Fermented food is trending

Gut health is all the rage.

Anti-inflammatory is a hot topic.

And as a Nutritionist, I am HERE for all of it!

That’s why I started drinking Miso Soup every single morning.

Miso Soup, the addition to your morning routine you never knew you needed.

You probably didn’t realized it but Miso is a fermented food.

Fermentation + good bacteria

Miso is full of all kinds of active good bacteria that is beneficial for so many reasons.

Having a good balance of good bacteria in your gut can:

  • Boost your mood
  • Lower inflammation in the body
  • Create more regular digestion
  • Boost immunity

I’m sure we can all use a little more of all of that!

And that’s just some of the benefits of miso soup.

Personalize your miso

You can add so many delicious ingredients to your miso and really make it your own. We tend to switch it up every few days in our house.

Seaweed + your health

So let’s talk about the 1 and only mandatory ingredient. Seaweed!

Seaweed is an important nutrient dense food that many people only eat when they go out for sushi.

Those of us who follow a whole food plant-based diet are always looking for ways to get in those healthy fatty acids that we are missing out on from not eating fish.

Seaweed is the perfect place to get those fatty acids as well as vital minerals that our bodies need to thrive.

*Note: If you are on a thyroid medication or have thyroid issues, consult a physician before eating seaweed daily.

Why miso in the mornings

Which is why I love starting my day with one cup of miso every single morning.

Think about it…

When we go to sleep at night our body has been fasting all night long.

When we rise our body is ready for hydration, minerals, and live bacteria to help us digest all of the yummy food we will consume the rest of the day.

Of course water is always a great option, but trust me, once you start drinking miso in the morning, you’ll totally get why I love it so much!

Plus miso soup is like one big morning hug in a cup, especially on chilly fall mornings.

Plus with recipes like these, it takes about the same amount of time as making a cup of coffee.
