Meal Planning Made Easy

I’ve spent years trying to come up with a meal planning system that worked.

I’ve tried everything from a fridge calendar, to my google calendar, pen and paper, to a giant wall size chalkboard in our kitchen. I always fell behind, or didn’t stick to it, or had planned for a specific recipe and somehow forgot an ingredient.

Then a few years ago I found Plan to Eat

Since then, meal planning has never been the same.

I want to show you how simple and flawless this system makes meal planning and would love if you’ll join me on Plan to Eat so that we can share recipes and meal plan together.

Meal Planning Made Easy

1: build your recipe library

The Plan to Eat system makes building your recipe library just as easy as using Pinterest.

Plan to Eat has a Google Chrome Extension that works very similar to Pinterest too.

So any time you’re checking out your favorite food blog you can save recipes to your library just like you would with the Pinterest extension.

My favorite part is that if the recipe includes nutrition facts, it imports those too.

When saving your recipe you have the ability to add tags such as “meatless monday”, “gluten-free”, or anything else you’d like to input.

You can also categorize the recipes and make the organization completely your own.

You have the ability to find friends on the platform and view each other’s recipes, which makes your recipe library virtually endless.

2: create your meal calendar

When you’re ready to create the meal plan for the the week ahead,..

It’s as simple as dragging and dropping the recipes on the left to onto the calendar.

There is a time slot for breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner, and prep-notes.

The calendar syncs with Gooogle Calendar and iCal.

I love this feature because we always have our phones on us.

I have my calendar set as my home screen on my phone so I can always see what meal or snack I am having next.

This helps keep me from feeling stressed about what to eat and keeps me on track with a healthy lifestyle.

3: create your shopping list

After you’ve created your meal plan for the week (or month, or however long).

First select a date range that you’d like to shop for.

Next hit the SHOP button.

That will automatically populate a shopping list for whatever date range you’ve selected.

The shopping list will automatically be split into sections like produce, baking, etc.

Which makes it so easy to shop at the store with the the Plan to Eat app open.

And then that’s it!

Check of the items one by one as you shop for them and you’re all set!

When you’re ready to cook each recipe:

1.Open up Plan to Eat and go to your meal plan

2. Click the recipe and the step by step instructions will be there.

After you’re done with your meal:

You have the ability to rate the recipe. If it was something new and you really loved it, give it five stars, then next time you’re meal planning you can sort the recipes by rating and pull up all your favorites.

4: time saving delivery

A few years back I realized we were spending almost one full weekend day running errands.

I started to dread grocery shopping and I always forgot something and had to go back mid week anyway. I knew there had to be a better way.

I found Instacart in 2014 and I have never went back to in store grocery shopping since.

I have saved so much money over the years because I am not in the store being tempted to purchase items that aren’t on my list, I could finally stick to my budget!

Ordering groceries online keeps me focused and on budget and nutrition.

With Instacart, I have the ability to move things in and out of my cart and look for a similar item that may be on sale to keep me under my weekly budget, or even review labels before I decide on an item.

You can do all of this while watching Netflix on your night off and then schedule your groceries to be delivered on any day you’d like. Even with 2hours if you’re in a pinch.

It’s made such a difference in how we spend our weekends.

Removing that errand day has left us feeling much more refreshed come Sunday evening. It’s pure bliss I tell you! BLISS!
